Leading For Change

Seth Godin, in a Ted Talk about the social unit called tribes, describes how ordinary people can become leaders by telling a story, engaging in tribe-building, and making things change for the good.

Other words to describe tribe is groups, kin, community, or people with shared interests or goals. The basic idea of Seth's argument is that people who want to create change do so by spreading ideas and becoming leaders connecting with their tribe. We connect with others because we want to connect. We find a common cause, or a common interest and we get together. Tribes have the potential to begin a movement of change, by finding your tribe, you too can be a leader for change. What a great idea: build a tribe and begin the process of leading for change in your community.

To begin the process of developing my own tribe, I began a Networked Learning Space or community on edWeb.net called Teaching Connections. I plan to develop this community to spark interest in building connections among educators who use technology to develop lessons. I hope to lead a conversation on best practices in using different tech tools and share tips on how these tools can be better used in lesson development. I would like to be a change leader in my community to help teachers find ways to improve student learning experiences. I want to influence the number of teachers who use technology for research, design, building, experimenting and creating new ideas and learning products. The community is open to everyone. If you have an interest in technology and in education, this community is for you. Once you log in to edWeb.net, open the link to my community.

Come join my tribe: Teaching Connections
